In 1997, Mr. Rod Johnson was recruited from the Spring City Red Sox to join Paoli Legion as
the Cardinals skipper and in two seasons converted a 3-21 team into a perennial winner.
The 1999 squad won the CCALB Regular Season and Playoff Championships, the Region 3 Championship,
and placed 3rd in the State Championship held in St. Mary's, PA.
The 2003 squad again won the CCALB Regular Season Championship posting a 21-3 league record. The
Cards then went on to 'run the table' at the Region 3 Tournament winning it with a perfect 5-0
record. The Cards qualified for the National Regionals in Newburgh, NY as a Pennsylvania State
Finalist.

In 2004, Mr. Darien Threadgill took over the reins of the Cardinals and the team has continued
its winning tradition including the 2005 Championship at the Hampden Township Tournament in
Mechanicsburg, PA.
The Junior Legion Redbirds franchise began play in 1997 as the Cardinals 'farm-team' under the leadership
of Mr. Mike Flick. In only the Redbird’s 3rd year, Coach Nick Desanto (first Paoli Legion player to continue
as a coach) led the team to 1st place in the Twin-County Playoffs, qualified for the State Championships,
and – as the 5th seed – earned the runner-up spot in the 2000 State Tournament. In 2004, the Redbirds squad
posted finished runner-up in the Southern Chester County League.
